THE BEATLES - TUBE CUT COLLECTION ARCHIVES MINI LP BOX UPGRADED

THE BEATLES - TUBE CUT COLLECTION ARCHIVES MINI LP BOX UPGRADED

TUBE CUT HISTORY
At some point in the late 60's they changed equipment at Abbey Road (and everywhere else?) from tube-driven to solid  state gear, prior to the recording of the Abbey Road album. Any albums made before that change are thusly called  "tube cuts." The -2/-2 Sgt Pepper was cut after the change to solid state gear, so the -1/-1 is the only "tube cut" of the stereo Pepper (not sure about the mono).

Prior to this drop I don't think anyone had done a transfer from a tube cut stereo Sgt Pepper
(or any other tube cut album except maybe the White Album), mainly because mint sounding copies are difficult to find.

Testimony on the Sgt. Pepper's album

''I was blown away by the sound representation coming out of my speakers! How the hell did he do it?
Wow! You know, with many great sounding discs from the likes of Ebbetts, MS, DLedin I really couldn't imagine something surpassing all these other attempts by that much. At this point I figure it's gotta be trivial improvements and all a matter or whose technique sounds best. But this pristine tube cut disc is immaculate. Flawless at this point.
I'm more than impressed-- I'm bowled over with the detail, sound stage, tone and yes, warmth that cuddles this disc.
Even though I haven't given it a full listening yet, I feel obliged to make this brief comment. This disc is like what it's like if we had a DMM master version of this album! I can't wait to dig my teeth into this disc''

THE BEATLES - THE SONGS THE BEATLES GAVE AWAY COMPLETE BOX

THE BEATLES - THE SONGS THE BEATLES GAVE AWAY COMPLETE BOX
120 SONGS NEVER RELEASED BEFORE IN THIS FORMAT!

One of the passions of a true Beatles fan who wants everything, is to collect all the songs ever written (or co-written) by all of the 4 Beatles. Such a daunting (and expensive) task has just been made instantly obtainable with this 4 CD set, which, as an added bonus, includes the Beatles' own versions of many of these great songs.

The first disc What becomes obvious after only half of the first disc, is that if the Beatle chosen to record some of these songs officially as a complete album, it would have been a monster hit. For example, on the first disc (which features songs given away while the Beatles were still together) there are no less than 11 top ten hits - a remarkable feat from a group already blessed with "guaranteed hits" status.
The only known (and deliberate) omission from the set is (apart from "Leave it") all of the tracks from Mike McCartney's McGear Album, which is now freely available on CD. We've still included, however, the fab 45 "Leave It", "Sweet Baby" (not on the LP or re-issued CD) and the non-LP 45 "Dance The Do" (in it's original form - the CD version is a dramatically different recent re-mix)

The second disc continues the story into the early 70's, including one-off items like George's "Sing One For The Lord" only available on Billy Preston's otherwise unspectacular "Encouraging Words" Apple up early mixes of the various songs Ringo was given for his "Ringo" LP in 1973, the very rare McCartney penned "4th July" (for John Christie), Billy Lawrie's "Rock And Roller" (co-written by Ringo) and Peggy Lee's "Lets Love" which stands to this day one of McCartney's finest songs.

Disc three takes us through to the recent McCartney/Costello hit "Veronica" and includes both Gary Moore and Eric Claptons' versions of George's "That Kind Of Woman" (clearly Eric wins!) also included on disc 3 is McCartney's "Mine For Me" (Rod Stewart), "Giddy" (roger Daltrey), "On The Wings Of A Nightingale" (Everly Brothers), "Honorary Consul Theme" (John Williams) and the vary rare "New Moon Over Jamaica" (Johnny Cash) which also features Paul singing duet lea
This set will also satisfy those "semi-fans" who don't wish to purchase Ringo's output over the years, by including all songs given to him by the other 3 Beatles: eg. "Cookin' " (John), "Pure Gold" (Paul), "I'll Still Love You" (George), plus the many others as well.

Disc four concludes the set with as many of the Beatles own versions of these songs as has ever been heard til now, for example, we have sourced the acetates of one-off demo's of "Bad To Me", "One And One Is Two", "Step Inside Love", "Goodbye", and "On The Wings Of A Nightingale", a total of 20 performances of the 68 songs given away are included on this the final CD in the set.

DISC 3 - HOLLYWOOD BOWL MASTER VIDEO - Never released before master videos of the concert.

This set does compile the various Hollywood Bowl mixes and edits in one place. However, these two discs don’t include the unedited recordings

Instead, disc one presents the 1977 LP mix (with a 1996 mix edited in at the side flip for maximum continuity) while disc two presents vintage mixes and edits of the 1964 (mono) and 1965 (stereo) shows. [1965 is a different mix/edit from somewhere.]

Don’t let the “Hollywood Bowl Complete” source designation fool you – these are not straight copies of the Yellow Dog release. That CD, especially the 1964 show, sounds rather flat, so we used our proprietary equalization process (first introduced to create the “Revolution” composites on The Beatles Deluxe vol. 6) to make these tapes sound exactly like the vibrant released version. We think it’s a nice improvement.
